The Aegina Pistachio, has been systematically cultivated on Aegina island since the 1860s.
Today the Aegina Pistachio is naturally grown on small family estates.
The eclectic taste and shape of Aegina Pistachio are due to the island’s ideal climate, texture of soil as the proximity of the sea. Recognizing these unique characteristics, the European Union awarded the Aegina Pistachio the Protected Origin Product (PDO) title, distinguishing it from all other pistachios worldwide.
Pistachios are described as a super, concentrated food. They belong to the few in number foods that, within small quantities, can provide energy, monounsaturated fatty acids, fiber, vitamins (especially the B vitamins), minerals and beneficial antioxidants. And even better, only with 170 calories in a 30gr portion!
